I think we all need this! LightLane

LightLane was originally created for a design competition to promote commuting by bicycle. Although the concept did not win, the response was overwhelming, encouraging the inventors to continue development. Click image for hi-res version.

I’m fat and finished my 1st Official Half Marathon

PhuketMarathon--PixelsNGrains-120

Another benchmark this year – My first OFFICIAL Half-Marathon. I did run for 21k in December last year but this one it felt different. I felt much more stronger, faster and more stamina.Prior to this Marathon I did some not so intensive training. My peak was at 12k and I rest about 4 days before the race due to minor injury on my left knee. I just do not want to risk it. First of all, here were my training logs before the race (also you can see my activities on the sidebar) and then some photos on the road to Phuket Marathon heh!

  1. Day 1 | Short run due to nature call lol
  2. Day 2 | 10k run and 1000m Swim
  3. Day 3 | 10k run
  4. Day 4 | Brick 20k bike and 7k run
  5. Day 5 | 5k Miri run
  6. Day 6 | 12k run
  7. Day 7 | 7.5k Flat Course
  8. Day 8 | 12k run
  9. Day 9 | 12k run
  10. Race day 21k

PhuketMarathon--PixelsNGrains-118

The race day : I woke up around 4 that morning and preparing my self for the race. For me its not a race – I just want to cross the finish line within my target time which did not happen. I wanted sub 2:20 but instead 2:30. Anyway, the route for 21k was not as expected. I got to go through all those small villages and with unpleasant smell. I nearly puke couple of times and the humidity level was so strong that I quickly dehydrated but thanks to the water station, ice sponge and watermelon which keeping me moving on. I was nearly giving up because of the heat but I looked beyond the finish line and the AWESOMENESS NEEDS TO CONTINUE! and I did not regret it in the end.

Overall I was extremely happy and the adrenalin start pumping again once they called my name at the finish line! Congratulations to the organizers for doing an excellent JOB!!!

“HAMSUL SULAIMAN FROM BRUNEI in FINISHING HALF MARATHON!”

That was just awesome! I was screaming and jumping like CRAZY!!!! Will definitely do Half-Marathon again either in KK or Singapore !

My Garmin EDGE 705

I have been waiting for 1 month over  since this arrived. It was back ordered due to out of stock. I guess a lot of people trying to grab this little gadget.

What is EDGE 705 all about?  It is a bike computer navigator which comes with GPS with optional Heart Rate Monitor, Cadence , Barometer and Speedometer. Basically the Edge 705 is a sophisticated version of a normal bike  computer.

edge--PixelsNGrains-011.JPG

Yup, another purchased from  Wiggle. I had to pay BND $38.30 cents for Custom Tax.  The 0.30 cents was for clearance fee hehe.

edge--PixelsNGrains-012.JPG

Edge 705 with Heart Rate Monitor and Cadence.

edge--PixelsNGrains-014.JPG

This is European version that comes with European road maps and Micro SD but I guess the map is useless at the moment.

Garmin Edge 705

Maps, quick guide, cables, charger, HRM and cadence

Garmin Edge 705

Actually I was surprised how little it is.

edge--PixelsNGrains-017.JPG

My iPorn is much more bigger which on the other hand…

Garmin Edge 705

…. the box of Egde 705 is bigger than iPorn. lol.

I will mount this little gadget and will try it out on my bike later.

04-05-2009       10:11      Delivery Agent – BRUNEI DARUSSALAM      Awaiting addressee instructions

wOOOHOOOoooo some stuffs from wiggle has arrive! Maybe tomorrow?

Went to Labuan for the Cross Channel Swim Challenge

crosschannel-png-059

No, I did not participate the 5.4km swim except my friends. I can’t even swim 500m under 10 minutes for god sake.

So I arrived at the Serasa Terminal at 4pm waiting for Fathi to come. He arrived.

crosschannel-png-000xs

Went on to the Boat after 4:30pm

crosschannel-png-001

Filled in our form at 4:45pm

crosschannel-png-002

By 5:30 Fathi and Keeran went for a nap

crosschannel-png-003

Lady in Pink wore the same dress yesterday – Yes we met her on the way back to Brunei. I think she has some work to do.

crosschannel-png-004

Indonesian ladies working so HARD in Brunei

crosschannel-png-006

Walking down to the Immigration point

crosschannel-png-007

That’s not so far innit?

crosschannel-png-010

Got out from Labuan Terminal and we got lost – We walked further up to find Labuan Marine Center to meet Faizal because Fathi need to register him self up.

crosschannel-png-014

After 30 mins walk?!2@#@$5  We finally met Faizal

crosschannel-png-015

Then we went out for pasta at Pizza Hut. Food was a bit dodgy comparing what  they offer on the menu. I am talking about the portion wise. At Pizza Hut is what you see on the menu is NOT you get. They make the portion smaller. Stupid illustrations purpose only!

crosschannel-png-026

crosschannel-png-027

crosschannel-png-028

Checked in at Hotel Ambassador  2. It was dead cheap – RM $98 / night. We got Twin Bed (ha ha). Classic thing happened during that night – Power trip TWICE! ha ha

crosschannel-png-030

..and on the reception table there’s a list of people’s name. I don’t know what’s for but one name caught our attention LUNCHING ANAK AMERIKAN, well most of the names were weird.

crosschannel-png-033

and they were laughing lol

crosschannel-png-036

The next morning went back to the Marine center

crosschannel-png-041

Wave was quite strong that morning.

crosschannel-png-043

Whooaaa and the sea is pretty scary.

crosschannel-png-044

Fathi and Keeran did his number

crosschannel-png-048

crosschannel-png-050

This 6 year old kid joined the 1.5km swim accompanied by her dad  and the best thing was she swim in a OPEN SEA WATER. She makes my pipi small. from 7″ to 6.5″. She even yawn!

crosschannel-png-081

..she made it…

crosschannel-png-142

Keeran was getting ready and that Tattoo…. a wing on his back

crosschannel-png-091

but this kid had something on his mind…. a wing that flies.

crosschannel-png-095

and this kid was first to come out

crosschannel-png-104

She kept on screaming calling her friends name on the water.. I think she was saying

“faster faster its here….”

crosschannel-png-108

and this guy screamed like a girl too

crosschannel-png-105

Crossing the finish line

crosschannel-png-124

Another little girl who’s doing the 5.4km swimming. Makes my pipi much more smaller.

crosschannel-png-125

The 3 guys from Brunei who’s doing the Cross Channel Swim. DAMN!

Keeran, Fathi and Faizal.

crosschannel-png-131

Showing off he’s the Real IRON MAN

crosschannel-png-147

the race begins

crosschannel-png-166

..the first guy to come out.. so fast..I think they did it just over 1hour.

crosschannel-png-186

2nd place (l) and 1st place (r)

crosschannel-png-198

and this girl was still screaming… she just cant stop

crosschannel-png-221

this lady agreed with me…

crosschannel-png-229

Fathi… dudeeeee what happened?

crosschannel-png-268

Keeran came out like a Hunter

crosschannel-png-290

but Faizal came out first.  I think he did under 2 hours.

crosschannel-png-2751

crosschannel-png-305

Finally its OVER!

crosschannel-png-299

Time to go home lads.

crosschannel-png-317
